Shrimp Gumbo - cooking recipe
Ingredients

8 slices bacon
1 c. sliced okra
3 c. chopped onions
2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. chopped parsley
4 cloves garlic
1 c. chopped green onion
1 c. ketchup
2 Tbsp. chili powder
5 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. black pepper
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. vinegar
8 thin slices lemon
1 Tbsp. Accent
1 1/2 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. prepared mustard
1 can tomato paste plus 1 can water
1/2 tsp. Hot Stuff
1 (No. 303) can tomatoes
2 cans consomme soup
3 bay leaves
1 c. chopped green pepper
6 c. hot water
5 c. raw shrimp
2 tsp. file gumbo
3 tsp. curry powder
8 slices pimento olives
Preparation

Fry bacon; remove from grease.
Crumble and save.
Fry okra until all slickness is gone.
Remove from grease and add to bacon. Fry onions, celery, garlic, green onions, green pepper and parsley until limp.
Add chili powder and mix well.
Now add everything up to and including 6 cups hot water.
Check list. Cover and cook slowly until mixture is thick, about 1 hour.
Add raw, cleaned shrimp and cook 15 to 20 minutes.
Add file, curry and olives.
Leave out last 4 ingredients to freeze sauce.
Serve over steamed rice.
