Mock Mincemeat - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. green tomatoes
    3 lb. chopped apples
    4 lb. brown sugar
    2 lb. raisins (seedless)
    2 Tbsp. salt
    1 c. ground suet
    1 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. cinnamon
    2 Tbsp. cloves
    1 Tbsp. nutmeg
    orange peel (if desired)
Preparation
    Chop tomatoes; drain well.
    Measure juice and add same amount of water to pulp.
    Scald mixture and drain off liquid.
    Repeat this process twice, adding fresh water, scalding and draining.
    Add next 4 ingredients to pulp and cook until mixture is clear.
    Add remaining ingredients and cook until mixture is thick.
    Can hot.
