Aunt Mary'S Virginia Corn Bread(Year 1900) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. white corn meal
    1 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 heaping tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. lard
    3 c. milk
    3 eggs, well beaten
Preparation
    Sift together the flour, corn meal, sugar, salt and baking powder.
    Rub in the lard cold; add the eggs and then the milk. Mix into a moderately stiff batter; pour it into well-greased, shallow baking pans (pie tins are suitable).
    Bake from 30 to 40 minutes.
