Chinese Beets - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. cooked, sliced beets (can or fresh)
    3/4 c. beets liquid
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    12 whole cloves
    1 1/2 Tbsp. catsup
    1 1/2 Tbsp. oil
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    dash of salt
Preparation
    I use 2 cans of beets.
