Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    75 burpless cucumbers 6-inches long
    1 pt. plain salt
    3 tsp. alum
    5 pt. vinegar
    6 c. sugar
    1 pkg. pickling spice
Preparation
    Place cucumbers
    in
    stone
    or\tglass
    jar.
    Cover with boiling water.
    Let
    stand\t24
    hours.
    Drain
    off water.
    Cut cucumbers in
    desired pieces.
    Add alum and cover with boiling water.
    Let
    stand 24 hours.
    Rinse in clear water; drain off. Boil vinegar, sugar (6 cups) and spices tied up in cheesecloth and pour
    over\tcucumbers.
    Boil
    3
    mornings, adding 1 cup of sugar each
    morning,
    then
    boil 3 mornings without adding any sugar. Last, can in sterilized jars and lids.
    Seal.
