East Texas Hot Water Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. meal
    3/4 tsp. salt
    4 c. boiling water
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Bring water to a brisk boil.
    Mix all dry ingredients.
    Add 1/2 of water and mix thoroughly.
    Add more water, if needed, for thick mixture.
    Spoon and pat with hands.
    Fry in very hot oil until brown.
