Caramel Layer Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    14 oz. pkg. light caramels
    1/3 c. evaporated milk
    1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
    3/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
    1/3 c. evaporated milk
    1 c. chopped nuts
    6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch pan. Combine in heavy saucepan first 2 ingredients.
    Cook over low heat stirring constantly until caramels are melted.
    Keep warm. Combine in large bowl remaining ingredients except chocolate chips.
    By hand stir until dough holds together.
    Press 1/2 dough into pan.
    Bake for 6 minutes.
    Sprinkle chocolate chips and caramel mixture over cooked dough.
    Then sprinkle rest of dough over that.
    Bake 15 to 20 minutes.
    Cool thoroughly.
    Makes 3 dozen.
