Orange Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium orange
    1 c. raisins or dates
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 egg, beaten
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. nuts
    2 c. flour
Preparation
    Squeeze orange.
    Pour juice in measuring cup and fill with boiling water to 1 cup level.
    Force rind and raisins through chopper.
    Add diluted orange juice.
    Stir extract, shortening and egg.
    Add dry ingredients and beat.
    Stir in nuts.
    Bake in a greased loaf pan for one hour in a moderate oven.
