Strawberry Shortcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 egg whites
    1 1/2 sticks softened butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    1 c. milk
    3 c. finely sifted flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 qt. strawberries
    3 c. whipping cream (or more; use mountains of whipped cream!)
    1/4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Stiffly whip the cream.
    Rinse and cap the strawberries; blot dry on paper towels.
    Slice strawberries and sprinkle with sugar. (If strawberries are sweet, no sugar is required.)
    Divide the strawberries and put between cake layers.
    (Do not put strawberries on top or they may bleed into cream.)
    Spread whipped cream over the cake.
    Cut and serve.
