Beef Rolls(Rouladen) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 breakfast steaks
salt and pepper
paprika
brown mustard
4 slices bacon
4 bread and butter pickles, chopped
1 onion, chopped
3 Tbsp. shortening
2 Tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. water
1 beef bouillon cube
Preparation

Beat steaks until thin, sprinkle with salt, pepper, paprika and spread with mustard.
Lay a slice of bacon on top of the mustard on each steak.
Place some of the chopped pickles and onions on top of the bacon.
Roll the steak lengthwise and fasten the end with a toothpick or tie it together with a string.
Melt the shortening in a heavy frying pan and brown on all sides.
Add the water and bouillon cube and cover.
Cook over medium heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is tender.
Check the pan occasionally to turn the beef rolls and add more water, if needed. Remove the beef rolls and thicken the sauce with flour and season with salt and pepper.
Serves 4.
