Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. vinegar
    3 qt. water
    1/2 c. salt
    1/4 tsp. alum
    1/4 tsp. turmeric
    1/4 tsp. dry mustard
    dash of garlic or bulb
    small hot green pepper (optional)
Preparation
    Place fresh dill (couple of sprigs) in bottom of quart jar. Closely pack cucumbers in jars.
    Heat vinegar, water, salt and all spices and green pepper to a full boil for 5 minutes.
    Pour over cucumbers in jars.
    Reserve any remaining solution.
