Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. self-rising corn meal
1 c. self-rising flour
1 c. sweet milk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. sugar (optional)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/4 tsp. instant garlic powder (optional)

Preparation

Mix all ingredients well.
Drop by teaspoonfuls into hot deep fat.
Fry until brown as you desire.
Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
