Southern Skillet Chicken Creole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. Crisco
    2 1/2 to 3 lb. chicken legs
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 large green pepper, chopped
    1 c. sliced mushrooms
    1 clove garlic or 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes or 1 qt. fresh tomatoes
    1 c. uncooked rice
    1 c. water
    2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Brown chicken in Crisco.
    Remove from skillet.
    In remaining oil, saute onion, pepper, mushrooms and garlic.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Place chicken on top of mixture.
    Cover and simmer 35 minutes or until chicken and rice are tender.
    Makes 4 to 6 servings.
