Plain Layer Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. flavoring
    1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
Preparation
    Cream the shortening with half the sugar; add the remaining sugar gradually with the beaten eggs.
    Next, add the milk and flavoring.
    Then add the dry ingredients, sifted together.
    Beat thoroughly and bake in prepared layer cake
    pans for 15 to 20 minutes in a moderately hot oven at 400\u00b0.
