Coconut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/3 c. butter, softened
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    3 c. sifted cake flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 1/3 c. milk
    4 egg whites
    Fluffy Frosting
    fresh coconut, grated
Preparation
    Cream shortening and butter.
    Gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed.
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
    Add to creamed mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
    Mix after each addition.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Gently fold into batter.
    Pour into three 9-inch cake pans that have been greased and floured.
    Bake for 22 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean at 350\u00b0.
    Use Fluffy Frosting to ice cake.
