Apple Stack Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    apples
    1 c. shortening, packed
    3 to 4 eggs
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. sorghum
    1 1/2 c. milk
    4 to 5 c. flour (self-rising)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. allspice
Preparation
    In large cooker, cook apple until good and tender.
    Mix shortening, eggs, sugar, sorghum, milk, vanilla and flour until thick, then bake in an 8-inch iron pan until done (use toothpick inserted in cake; if it comes out clean the cake is done).
    There should be enough batter to make 3 cakes.
    After cake is baked, cut each cake through the middle to make 6 layers.
    Stack on top of each other with apples spread between each layer.
    Fill each pan about 1/2 full.
    Bake at 350\u00b0.
