Brownies - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. broken nuts
Preparation

Melt together over hot water, chocolate squares and shortening.
Beat in sugar and eggs.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Mix in the nuts.
Spread in well-greased and floured 8-inch square pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 until top has dull crust, 30 to 35 minutes.
A slight imprint will be left when top is touched lightly with finger.
Cool slightly, then cut into squares.
Frost, if desired, before cutting.
Yields 16 two-inch squares.
