Hush Puppies - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 3/4 c. corn meal
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 c. buttermilk
1 egg
vegetable oil
Preparation

Sift together cornmeal, flour, sugar and garlic salt.
Add onion.
Combine egg and buttermilk, then add to dry ingredients. Stir until mixture is moist.
Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into deep hot oil at 400\u00b0, frying only a few at a time.
Turn hush puppies once and cook until they are golden brown.
Remove and drain on paper towel.
