Fruit Cake Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
    1/4 c. sour milk
    1 3/4 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. candied cherries
    1 c. cut up dates
    1/2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Mix thoroughly the shortening, brown sugar and egg.
    Stir in sour milk.
    Sift together the flour, soda and salt and stir in. Mix pecans, cherries and dates.
    Chill.
    Heat oven to 400\u00b0 (moderately hot).
    Drop dough about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
    Top each cookie with pecan half or cherry. Makes 4 dozen.
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
    Chill before baking.
