Braised Red Cabbage(Serve With Sauerbraten) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. red cabbage
    1 medium white onion, sliced
    2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
    1/2 c. dry red wine
    1/4 c. packed brown sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 Tbsp. butter, cut in small pieces
Preparation
    Remove core and cut cabbage into 1/4-inch thick slices.
    In large saucepan, combine cabbage, onion, apples, wine, sugar, salt and pepper.
    Cover; bring to a boil.
    Lower heat and simmer 20 minutes, stirring 2 or 3 times.
    Add butter and stir until melted. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
