Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    green tomatoes
    onions
    vinegar
    sugar
    hot peppers (long)
    whole spice
Preparation
    Quarter the tomatoes.
    Slice onions.
    Add to tomatoes in a large boiler.
    Add peppers and spice.
    Add vinegar and sugar until mixture just covers tomatoes.
    (Start with small amount because when sugar melts, liquid will rise.) Let simmer until tomatoes are tender enough that a toothpick will stick through them easily. Let cook for a minute more.
    Put in hot jars and seal.
