Dried Great Northern Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dried beans
    ham hock or side pork
    water to cover (add water as needed while cooking)
    pepper to taste
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Pick over beans to remove bad ones and wash.
    Put meat and beans in a large pot and cover with water.
    Cook slowly over medium heat for about 2 hours or until done.
    Put salt in during last hour.
