Chow-Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 gal. green tomatoes, chopped
    1 1/2 qt. onion, chopped
    1 c. red pepper, chopped
    2 c. salt
    1 Tbsp. black pepper
    2 qt. red vinegar
    1 gal. white head cabbage, chopped
    2 c. hot green pepper, chopped
    1/2 c. bell pepper, chopped
    1 qt. sugar
    1 Tbsp. whole cloves
Preparation
    Chop
    tomatoes\tand cabbage.
    Sprinkle with salt; cover with cloth.
    Let stand 12 hours.
    Drain liquid off.
    Mix into tomato mixture,
    bell pepper, onions, red pepper, hot pepper, sugar and black pepper.
    Bring to a boil about 30 minutes.
    Do not overcook.
    Add whole cloves.
    Pack in pint jars and seal. Very good with field peas, butter beans and meats.
