Sweet Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gallon jar whole dill pickles
    5 c. sugar
    1 c. tarragon wine vinegar
    3 Tbsp. pickling spice
    sliced onions may be added
Preparation
    Drain juice off into a large container. Cut cucumbers into slices. Add 5 pounds sugar, vinegar, pickling spice; and onions to vinegar and heat until sugar is dissolved. Stir several times. Add sliced cucumbers and let set 24 hours. Put
    in jars.
