Peanut Or Pecan Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. white Karo syrup
    1/2 c. water
    2 sticks margarine
    2 c. peanuts or pecans
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Mix sugar, syrup and water in heavy pan.
    When it starts to boil, add margarine and stir often after it reaches 230\u00b0.
    Add nuts at 280\u00b0 and stir constantly until mixture reaches hard crack stage (305\u00b0).
    Remove from heat; add soda and stir.
    Pour into 1 large pan or 2 medium pans and spread to cool.
    When cool, turn over and break into pieces.
    Store in airtight container.
