Pear Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. or 6 medium pears, peeled, sliced or quartered
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 c. water
    additional 1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 thin sliced lemon
Preparation
    Boil sugar and water rapidly 2 minutes.
    Add pears and boil gently 15 minutes.
    Add 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1 thin sliced lemon. Cook rapidly until fruit is clear, about 25 minutes.
