Nine-Day Cole Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. head cabbage, thinly shredded
    1 medium green pepper, finely chopped
    2 medium onions, finely chopped
    1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. cider vinegar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 c. salad oil
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Stir together cabbage, onion, green pepper and 1 cup sugar. Bring to a boil the salad oil, vinegar, celery seed, salt and remaining sugar.
    Immediately pour this hot mixture over the cabbage mixture.
    Chill overnight before serving.
    Keep stored in the refrigerator.
    Makes about 2 1/2 quarts.
