Cornmeal Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. self-rising cornmeal
    1/2 c. self-rising flour
    1 large onion, chopped
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening
    1 egg
    3/4 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Mix
    all
    ingredients
    into a stiff dough and then make into small
    balls
    1/4-inch
    thick.
    Drop into 4 cups boiling liquid from salt-cured ham or shoulder bone.
    Cook 10 minutes or until done.
