Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. thinly sliced cucumbers
    8 white onions, thinly sliced
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    5 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Combine cucumbers, onions and salt.
    Cover with ice and let stand for 3 hours.
    Drain and rinse.
    Mix remaining ingredients. Bring to boil; add pickles and onions.
    Heat thoroughly.
    Do not boil!
    pack in hot pint jars and process in hot water bath for 15 minutes.
    Makes 6 pints.
