Scotch Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. light brown sugar
    1 egg
    3/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Grease an 8 x 8-inch pan with butter.
    Melt shortening over low heat in saucepan; remove from heat.
    Put brown sugar in pan with shortening; wait 10 minutes and add egg to mixture.
    Stir. Add flour, baking powder and salt; stir.
    Add vanilla and nuts; mix well.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
