Congo Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 3/4 c. sifted plain flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. butter (1 stick plus a little more)
    1 box light brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Slice butter in thin slices in bowl.
    Add brown sugar and cream well.
    Add eggs, one at a time, and beat.
    Add flour, salt and baking powder; beat.
    Add flavoring and beat.
    Stir in by hand the nuts and chocolate chips.
    Grease large pan or 2 square cake pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Cool in pan for 5 to 10 minutes.
    Cut into bars.
    Remove to wire rack or a storage container.
