Turtle Cake - cooking recipe

1 German chocolate cake mix
14 oz. caramels
1/2 c. evaporated milk
6 Tbsp. margarine
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation

Mix cake according to package directions.
Set aside half of the batter; pour remaining batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch baking pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 18 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan over low heat, melt the caramels, milk and margarine. Remove from heat and add nuts.
Pour over baked cake; sprinkle with chocolate chips and reserved batter.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes more or until cake springs back when lightly touched.
Cool.
Cut into squares.
Top with ice cream or powdered sugar and a pecan half.
