Braised Beef With Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. salad oil
    1 1/2 lb. beef chuck, cut in 1 1/2-inch cubes
    2 onions, thinly sliced
    1 apple, pared, cored and thinly sliced
    2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes, undrained
    2 tsp. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    4 medium potatoes, pared and quartered lengthwise
    1 (1 1/2 lb.) head green cabbage, washed and cut in 8 wedges
Preparation
    Heat oil in large skillet.
    Add beef and brown on all sides. Remove.
    Add onions to skillet, and cook slowly until golden brown.
    Add browned beef.
    Stir in 1 cup water.
    Add apple and tomatoes, then sprinkle with sugar, salt and pepper.
    Bring to boiling; reduce heat and simmer covered for 2 hours.
    Add potatoes and cabbage to meat mixture; simmer, covered, for 20 minutes longer or until vegetables are tender.
    Makes 4 servings.
