24 Hour Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 egg yolks, beaten
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. pineapple juice
    dash of salt
    1 can fruit cocktail, drained
    1 can crushed pineapple, drained
    14 maraschino cherries, drained
    1 c. miniature marshmallows
    1/2 pt. whipping cream, whipped
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients except fruit, marshmallows and whipping cream.
    Put in a double boiler and cook until thick.
    Add 1 cup miniature marshmallows to mixture.
    The marshmallows do not need to be completely dissolved.
    Mix fruit cocktail, pineapple and cherries well with mixture.
    Then add whipped cream.
    Add bananas, apples, grapes or other fruit as desired.
    Let set for 24 hours before serving.
