Ingredients

3 cans sliced red beets
1 c. sugar
1 c. vinegar
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
24 whole cloves
3 Tbsp. ketchup
3 Tbsp. oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1 dash of salt
Preparation

Drain beets, reserving 1 1/2 cups liquid.
Place beets and liquid along with all other ingredients; mix well and cook until thickened.
