Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. green tomatoes
    6 onions
    1/2 c. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 pods hot red pepper
    5 Tbsp. mixed spices
    4 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Slice tomatoes and onions.
    Sprinkle with salt.
    Let stand overnight.
    Drain.
    Boil sugar and seasoning with vinegar 5 minutes.
    Cool slightly; add tomatoes and onions and simmer for 20 minutes.
    Pack into hot jars.
    Seal at once.
