Grandma Leary'S Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/4 c. melted shortening
    2 eggs
    2/3 c. milk
    oil for frying
Preparation
    Mix together and beat until smooth, about 30 seconds.
    Place dough in refrigerator and chill.
    Roll out in a small portion of dough at a time on a lightly floured board to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out doughnuts and let stand on board for 20 minutes before frying.
    Fry a few doughnuts at a time in 370\u00b0 fat for 3 to 5 minutes.
    Makes 2 dozen small doughnuts.
