Punch Bowl Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 yellow or German chocolate cake, made as directed
    1 can cherry pie filling
    1 large can crushed pineapple with juice
    2 small pkg. instant vanilla pudding, prepared
    1 (16 oz.) container whipped topping
    coconut (if desired)
    cherries and nuts (to garnish)
Preparation
    Layer:
    1/2 cake (crumbled), pineapple, pie filling, pudding, coconut and remaining half of cake (crumbled).
    Top with whipped topping and garnish.
    Chill.
