Marinated Vegetable Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. vegetable oil
    3/4 c. vinegar
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 can small sweet peas, drained
    1 can white Shoepeg corn, drained
    1 (6 oz.) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
    3 raw carrots, sliced thin
    1/2 c. diced celery
    5 green onions, chopped
    1 (2 oz.) jar diced pimientos
Preparation
    Bring the first 5 ingredients to a boil; cook for a few minutes, then set aside to cool.
