Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    ham bone or Spam
    8 to 10 c. water
    2 large onions, finely chopped
    2 bags split peas
    2 bags carrots
Preparation
    Simmer ham bone for 1/2 hour.
    Add carrots for 15 minutes. Add split peas and onions.
    Add salt, pepper and celery (or celery salt) to taste.
    Simmer for 2 1/2 hours.
