Peg'S Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, broken
    1/2 c. bell pepper, chopped
    1 onion, diced
    1/2 c. celery, diced
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green peas, thawed not cooked
    2 c. Hellmann's mayonnaise mixed with 2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 (4 oz.) pkg. Cheddar cheese, grated
    6 to 8 strips bacon, fried and crumbled
    salt
    Parmesan cheese, grated
Preparation
    In a bowl, layer first 8 ingredients in order given (lettuce on bottom, etc.).
    Chill for 24 hours.
    When ready to serve, salt to taste, toss and top with Parmesan cheese.
    Serves 8 to 10.
    Must be made a day ahead.
