Onion Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large white onions, sliced
    1 c. white vinegar
    1/2 c. water
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. chopped parsley or use dried parsley
    1/8 tsp. basil
    dash of red pepper
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients except onions and heat until sugar is dissolved. Pour over onions and refrigerate in a covered container. Serve onion slices and some liquid on lettuce leaves. Will keep for several days. Good with other salads or to put on hamburgers.
