Down-South Cheese Grits(Yield: 6 To 8 Servings) - cooking recipe

4 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1 c. grits
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/2 c. (12 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese
1 c. milk
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
dash of cayenne pepper
dash of white pepper
Preparation

Bring water to boil in large saucepan; add salt.
Gradually stir in grits and cook, stirring occasionally, for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in slightly beaten eggs, 1 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese, milk, butter and peppers.
Pour mixture into a buttered 2-quart baking dish.
Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese over top of casserole.
Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven 1 hour or until top is golden and casserole is bubbly.
