Frosted Lemon Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
    3 eggs, separated
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. water
    grated peel of 1 lemon
    1/4 c. lemon juice
    1/2 c. whipping cream, whipped
    vanilla wafers and whipped cream for garnish
Preparation
    Line an 8-inch pie pan with wafer crumbs.
    Beat egg yolks until thick.
    Add 1/2 cup sugar, water, lemon peel and juice. Cook in a double boiler until very thick, about 12 to 15 minutes. Cool.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Add remaining sugar gradually; fold into lemon mixture.
    Fold in whipped cream.
    Pour into pie pan lined with crumbs.
    Place, unwrapped, in freezer and let harden, at least 5 hours.
