Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. cucumbers, sliced
    8 medium onions
    1/2 c. salt
    3 1/2 c. sugar
    4 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Wash and slice cucumbers and onions. Add salt and place in large bowl; cover with plate. Let stand 3 hours and then drain well. Add remaining ingredients in a large saucepan (preferably in a Dutch oven) and bring to a full boil. Add cucumber mixture and heat, but DO NOT COOK. Seal in canning jars.
