Hickory Nut Or Walnut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    2/3 c. butter
    3 eggs
    2/3 c. milk
    3 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. mace (spice; optional)
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Roll nuts in part of flour.
    Cream sugar and butter.
    Add yolks of eggs.
    Sift all dry ingredients and add mixture gradually with milk.
    Add nuts.
    Then add beaten egg whites.
    Grease and flour pans.
    Also line bottom.
    Bake in moderate oven until done, about 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
