Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

16 c. sliced cucumbers
2 large onions, sliced
2 Tbsp. salt
4 c. sugar
2 c. white vinegar
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. alum
Preparation

Place cucumbers and onions in a bowl.
Sprinkle salt over. Let stand 3 hours.
Drain in colander.
Heat sugar and vinegar until dissolved.
Add celery seed, turmeric and alum.
Put cucumbers in a glass jar and pour brine over.
Will keep in the refrigerator a very long time.
