Magalia Firefighter'S Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. red beans
    1/2 c. baby limas
    1/2 c. dried peas
    1 qt. tomato juice
    juice of 1 lemon
    bacon or ham chunks
    1/2 c. kidney beans
    2 cloves chopped garlic
    2 (15 oz.) cans tomatoes
    1 tsp. chili powder
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Wash beans; place in a large kettle.
    Cover with water.
    Add 3 tablespoons of salt.
    Soak overnight.
    In morning, drain and add 2 quarts of water and chunks of bacon or ham or if you prefer, ham hock.
    Add seasonings and simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
