Clam Fritters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. milk
    1 egg
    2 cans (8 oz. each) minced clams, drained, reserve 1/2 c. liquid
    cocktail sauce or tartar sauce
Preparation
    Heat vegetable oil or shortening (3 to 4 inches) to 375\u00b0 in deep fat fryer or heavy saucepan.
    Beat flour, baking powder, salt, milk, egg and reserved clam liquid with hand beater until smooth.
    Stir in clams.
    Drop by level tablespoonfuls into hot oil.
    Fry until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
    Drain on paper towels.
    Serve with cocktail sauce.
    Makes 3 or 4 servings.
