Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. pitted dates
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 eggs
    2 3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. pecans, chopped
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cut dates in quarters; pour hot water, butter, sugar and salt. Cool.
    Sift flour and soda and add.
    Add eggs and nuts.
    Beat all together.
    Put into bread dish (9 x 5 x 3-inch).
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
    Make into sandwiches with cream cheese, a real treat.
